It has been over four years since Sergio Ramos left Real Madrid, yet the shadow of the legendary captain still looms large over the Santiago Bernabeu.
Despite the years passing, the bond between the player and the club remains strong, and to make things interesting, the 39-year-old has hinted that he could be open to that one final chapter.
After news broke that Ramos will not continue at Monterrey, an Instagram account MadridXtra posted a montage of the defender in white with the caption: “Breaking: Sergio Ramos has decided to leave Monterrey as a free agent. One last dance.”
Interestingly, the post received a ‘like’ from Ramos himself. While it may be a simple gesture, for a player who calculates his public moves carefully, it could be interpreted as a clear nod to his desires, reports SPORT.
Ramos’s exit in 2021 was nothing short of a soap opera, marred by contract disputes and a strained relationship with Florentino Perez.
Earlier in the year, he had even taken an aim at Perez by releasing a new song.

After a stint at PSG and an emotional return to Sevilla, Ramos has spent the last two years competing in Mexico.
Now, with his contract at Monterrey winding down, he is looking for a new challenge, even at the age of 39.
Ramos feels physically capable of continuing at the elite level. His primary motivation remains the Spanish national team.
Although coach Luis de la Fuente previously told him he was not in his plans, Ramos has not given up on the dream of the 2026 World Cup.
He knows that to have any chance of adding to his record 180 caps, he must be playing in a top-tier European league and there is no stage bigger than the one he called home for 16 years.
