As the football world gears up for another thrilling El Clasico this weekend, Real Madrid legend Raul Gonzalez has drawn attention to one of Barcelona’s brightest stars – Lamine Yamal.
The former Los Blancos striker, who made over 700 appearances for the club, spoke with admiration about the 18-year-old’s remarkable rise and the impact he has already made for Barcelona this season.
Raul acknowledged that Yamal is not just a promising youngster but a player who is redefining expectations at such a young age.
“He’s a great player, he’s breaking down a lot of barriers, and on the pitch he’s doing things that very few have done,” said the Madrid icon as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
Raul further explained that while Yamal’s performances have been extraordinary, the next step for the youngster is to keep building on this momentum.

“He’s very young, and now he has to consolidate everything he’s doing. I think he can be a very important player for his club right now and also for the Spanish national team,” he added.
The Real Madrid legend also shared his thoughts on the upcoming Clasico, recognising the magnitude of the fixture regardless of form or position.
“I think it doesn’t really matter how you get there. A Clasico is always a special match.
“I think Real Madrid, playing at home and with their fans behind them, are slight favourites, but they’re going to face a great team,” said Raul, making it clear that Barcelona’s quality under Hansi Flick cannot be underestimated.
Lamine Yamal’s rapid rise has captured the imagination of many, and his fearless performances, especially against Real Madrid, have made him one of Europe’s most exciting prospects.
As the Clasico approaches, even Real Madrid’s legends are acknowledging that Barcelona’s next generation is already making its mark on Spanish football.
