Real Madrid’s keen interest to reinforce the midfield in June has seen them linked with several names, including Adam Wharton, Vitinha and Kees Smit in recent months.
One surprising name that has also appeared on their wish-list is Manchester City’s Rodri – a Ballon d’Or winner and one of the best in the world in his position when fit.
Several reports have highlighted how Rodri is the management and administration’s dream target to fill the void they failed to bridge after the departure of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.
Now, Fabrizio Romano provides an update on that story.
Indeed, as has been the known theme in the past, the reliable Italian journalist recently confirmed that Real Madrid do indeed have Rodri as a potential midfield target.
There are people in Real Madrid’s hierarchy and management who are big fans of Rodri and love what he can bring to the team.

The men in white, thus, are completely attentive to his situation but are also aware that it does not entirely lie in their control.
Rodri’s current contract with Manchester City ends in 2027, and his possible transfer will revolve around the decision he takes next summer.
Should he opt to leave the Premier League giants, Real Madrid will be ready. However, if he opts to renew and stay, there is not much that can be done.
While the Spanish star is indeed one of the best defensive midfielders and game-controlling presences in world football, his fitness has been an area of concern in recent years.
Poor fitness has forced him into an erratic playing and availability schedule, and Real Madrid are aware of the same.
They will, thus, keep a close eye on his performances for both club and in the FIFA World Cup before deciding whether to make a move or not.
