Real Madrid are preparing for an important managerial change, with fresh reports claiming that Alvaro Arbeloa already expects to be informed that he will not continue in his current role once the season comes to an end.

According to Ok Diario, the decision regarding Arbeloa’s future has already been made, and the club is now focused on finalising plans for the next phase of the project.

It is known that Real Madrid have started the process of identifying a new coach, with Jose Mourinho currently emerging as the leading candidate.

It is said that the Spanish giants want to finalise the matter in the coming days before officially communicating the decision to Arbeloa.

The former defender still has a valid contract with the club, meaning both sides will need to hold discussions regarding how to resolve his situation moving forward.

According to the report, Real Madrid are expected to formally notify Arbeloa next week that he will not continue as manager.

Mourinho connection could influence next step

Despite the expected managerial change, the report also claims that Real Madrid want Arbeloa to remain linked with the club in some capacity.

One option being considered would involve offering him an administrative role inside the institution.

Another possibility would see Arbeloa become part of Mourinho’s coaching staff if the Portuguese manager ultimately returns and approves the arrangement.

That scenario appears possible given the strong relationship between Mourinho and Arbeloa from their previous years together at the Santiago Bernabeu.

On the other hand, a return to managing Real Madrid Castilla is not being considered at this stage.

Simply put, the former Spain international could choose to remain at the club in a reduced role, or he may instead decide to continue pursuing his ambitions as a head coach elsewhere.
