Real Madrid are in the market for a new centre-back as they brace for David Alaba’s expected departure and a possible one for Antonio Rudiger. Their interest in William Saliba has cooled for now, with attention shifting to his Arsenal partner Gabriel Magalhaes.
According to TEAMtalk, Madrid recently made an enquiry about Gabriel’s availability. The approach was swiftly rejected, with Arsenal indicating he is not for sale at any price.
The Brazil international has been one of Arsenal’s standout performers over the last 18 months, which is why Madrid view him as a strong fit. His long-term deal signed last summer, and the Premier League leaders’ firm stance, mean a move looks highly unlikely.
Madrid have also been linked with Ibrahima Konate and Nico Schlotterbeck as they survey alternatives at centre-back.
The club now face a pivotal summer, with a top-level addition considered essential, particularly if Rudiger is not offered a new contract. Otherwise Eder Militao, Dean Huijsen and Raul Asencio would front their central-defensive options, and the first two have had injury issues this season.
