Pedri has been one of the standout players for a Barcelona side that is looking like the real deal at the moment.

The young Spanish international has well and truly recovered from his fitness woes and has served as the engine for the Barcelona midfield under Hansi Flick.

Thanks to his brilliant performances, Pedri has received rave reviews from many footballing personalities across the globe, with Toni Kroos being the most recent individual to join the bandwagon.

What Kroos said about Pedri

In a recent interaction with his brother, Felix Kroos, the Real Madrid star pointed out what makes Pedri such a useful figure in midfield.

“Pedri is generally a player you miss a lot when he’s not on the pitch. He doesn’t just score goals or provide assists, he provides solutions.

“Going past opponents doesn’t always have to be a pass—most of the time, yes, but Pedri is one of the few midfielders who has the knack of dribbling past opponents in tight spaces,” he said (h/t FCB World).

When asked by his brother whether or not he felt the same when he played against Pedri, Kroos replied, “I think we suffered a heavy defeat at home that time. I always had the feeling that he didn’t look fast.”

“Then he starts dribbling, and I said to myself, “Well, at least he made a mistake, but even that I couldn’t do,” he added.

The former German international went on to point out how Pedri might not appear fast, but his agility makes him a deadly player to deal with.

“He doesn’t look like Messi, for example, who you see moving at lightning speed. This player doesn’t look fast, but he is actually fast,” he said.

“He’s fast because his movement is incredibly agile. I like players who not only perform effectively, but also look elegant and beautiful, and that’s what really sets him apart,” he concluded.
