Real Madrid recently secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Benfica in the Champions League playoff first leg in Lisbon.

While the fixture was largely overshadowed by the deplorable racist abuse directed at Vinicius Jr , Alvaro Arbeloa’s team managed to successfully hold onto their narrow lead.

However, the physical toll of such an intensely contested European night is now beginning to emerge from the dressing room, with Aurelien Tchouameni being one of the victims.

Fresh knock for Tchouameni

According to COPE, Tchouameni managed to complete the demanding fixture but unfortunately finished yesterday’s match experiencing noticeable discomfort in one of his legs.

The French midfielder played a crucial role in securing the midfield during the tense victory, making his physical state a sudden point of concern.

The club’s medical staff immediately took note of the issue as the players travelled back to the Spanish capital.

Fortunately, the initial feelings within the club suggest that the muscular issue does not seem to be a serious injury just yet.

Despite this cautious optimism, Real Madrid are unwilling to take any unnecessary risks with a player who remains fundamental to their defensive stability.

Tchouameni, therefore, will be evaluated by the medical team tomorrow when the entire squad returns to training at Valdebebas.

With a congested La Liga fixture list and the crucial return leg against Benfica looming at the Santiago Bernabéu, maintaining a fully fit midfield is an absolute priority. So it will be interesting to see whether or not Tchouameni’s knock is a serious one.

Real Madrid will hope the Frenchman can come out just fine and be available for the coming matches ahead.
