Real Madrid not considering Arsenal midfielder as Rodri alternative

There is no doubt that Real Madrid have had a very exciting and successful summer transfer window. The Merengues have signed six new players to reinforce all the areas of their team, and have also offset the expenses of these new signings by selling several of their academy-trained talents at very lucrative prices.

However, their transfer market activity is still not entirely complete. Reports suggest that Los Blancos believe their squad is 95% set for the upcoming season, but new additions in defense and midfield cannot yet be ruled out.

Despite the openness to bringing more reinforcements to the midfield, it is becoming increasingly clear that the Manchester City midfielder Rodri Hernandez will not be one of their summer additions, as the player has already rejected Real Madrid because he prefers a move to their archrivals, Barcelona.

After being closely linked with them some weeks ago, this turn of affairs would certainly sting the Merengues. However, they had already brought in Bernardo Silva to play the playmaker role in their team, and the club is reportedly not too concerned with Rodri’s rejection.

From the market, the Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi has been linked as a possible alternative to Rodri. However, MARCA claims that sources from Real Madrid have told them that these links are completely unfounded.

This is particularly the case as in addition to their trust in Silva to be the orchestrator from the midfield, they also value the presence of other young players like Arda Guler and Thiago Pitarch for this role. The club has complete confidence in their abilities and both these players are expected to play an important part in Mourinho’s plans for the upcoming season.

Thus, Martin Zubimendi is unlikely to join, and it would not really be surprising if Real Madrid do not sign another midfielder this summer, as they already have several players to play the required roles.
