At this point, Real Madrid’s win over Olympiacos midweek in the UEFA Champions League only seems to have been a consolation amidst the team’s dip in form, for they show no signs of having turned a new leaf.

Last night, the men in white took on relegation-threatened Girona at the Estadi Montilivi in a game where they were the clear favourites.

Having suffered two draws in their last two league outings, it was the perfect chance for them to turn their situation around. However, all Real Madrid could salvage was a draw once more – that too courtesy of a penalty.

Tranquillity at the club

As confirmed by El Chiringuito after the game, Real Madrid continue to transmit a feeling of tranquillity after the latest setback and continue to back Alonso amid the team’s poor form.

There is currently no thought of forcing a managerial change and that option appears to be off the table and Florentino Perez and Co. wish to back the club legend who is at the helm.

The pressure has been on Alonso for a long time now, especially considering the team’s record over the past month. After all, Los Blancos have won just one of their last five games across all competitions and have three draws and a defeat in that duration.

Further, their poor form in November has cost them dearly as Barcelona have now taken back the lead in La Liga after seeming to be a long haul away not too long ago.

The team’s poor sporting performances, coupled with the friction between the dressing room and the manager, needless to say, have cast doubts on the manager’s future.

News of Perez’s backing will undoubtedly go a long way in helping Alonso push the team through this difficult time.
