Real Madrid are focusing on exits for the time being, and they could be about to let multiple players join Alvaro Arbeloa at Fulham. The Premier League side are interested in both Franco Mastantuono and Gonzalo Garcia, and in regards to the former, the door for a possible summer departure looks set to be opened.
Mastantuono had a difficult first season at Real Madrid following his move from River Plate last summer. He failed to nail down a regular starting spot, and with Jose Mourinho likely to follow this pattern, a temporary exit has been floated – especially when seeing how beneficial Endrick Felipe’s was during the second half of last season.
Juventus have previously shown interest in Mastantuono, but more recently, a switch to Fulham has appeared more likely – especially with Arbeloa having taken over at Craven Cottage as manager. There is a good chance that he ends up in London, with MD reporting that a loan exit is on the agenda.
For the moment, nothing has been defined, as the final decision will be made by Mourinho, who intends to run the rule over Mastantuono during pre-season. If he manages to impress the Real Madrid head coach, he will almost certainly stay, which would be a blow for Arbeloa and Fulham. On the other hand, a departure would be very much on the cards if he did not make his mark over the next few weeks.
Real Madrid have several options that can play on the right side of attack, including new signing Bernardo Silva. There is no guarantee that Mastantuono will be able to secure a regular starting spot, which is why it would be wise to consider an exit – especially to Fulham, which could be ideal for his development in that he would play under a familiar manager and in a league that will make him a better player.
