Amidst the joy of an El Clasico win, Real Madrid have a dark cloud lurking as the future of superstar Vinicius Jr. has once again taken the spotlight following his outburst at manager Xabi Alonso last Sunday.

Following his substitution against Barcelona, Vinicius shouted “I am leaving, I had better leave,” at Alonso and he stormed straight down the tunnel, only to return minutes later and get involved in a scuffle with the opposition bench.

Reports have suggested that the 25-year-old has lost his full trust in Alonso and that it might become difficult for the pair to coexist at the club.

Real Madrid remain committed to Vinicius renewal

However, according to Anton Meana on Cadena SER, Real Madrid remain intent on renewing Vinicius’ contract and are optimistic about doing so, despite being aware of the tension between player and coach.

Negotiations over the Brazilian’s renewal were postponed last summer when the agreement, which had already been settled, fell through after the player requested a last-minute change in the terms.

Since then, talks have continued quietly in the background, with the formalities delayed until the end of the season. Real Madrid remain optimistic that an agreement for a renewal until 2030 can be reached soon.

Real Madrid not concerned about Alonso-Vinicius relationship

As per the report, Vinicius and Alonso do not enjoy a good relationship, in fact, they barely have one at all. Even so, Real Madrid’s plan regarding the player has not changed.

Senior management at Valdebebas view the situation as an issue between the coach and the player, not as a wider institutional problem.

Real Madrid have no intention of interfering in what they see as a technical matter but stress that they continue to regard Vinicius as a key player – essential to the team.

Today’s training session will mark the first face-to-face encounter between Vinicius and Alonso since the Clasico incident. The ideal move, for all parties, would be to bury the hatchet and move on, with an eye on the club’s best interests.
