Real Madrid defeated Manchester City 3-0 in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie, with Fede Valverde scoring all three. According to Football Espana, the player ratings reflected a composed, clinical display.
Thibaut Courtois, 7.5, dominated set pieces and made a vital second-half save from Nico O’Reilly. Antonio Rudiger, 8, won his battle with Erling Haaland and produced a crucial intervention after the interval. Dean Huijsen, 7, settled well after a testing start.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, 6, struggled early against Jeremy Doku but grew into the game. Ferland Mendy, 6.5, featured only before the break yet dealt reasonably with the wide threat.
Aurelien Tchouameni, 7, controlled the centre and limited danger through the middle. Thiago Pitarch, 6, looked out of place at times and invited late pressure. Arda Guler, 6.5, balanced diligent defensive work with intent on the ball.
Fede Valverde, 9.5, delivered a superb hat-trick and an outstanding all-round display. Brahim Diaz, 7, assisted the third and impressed with his industry. Vinicius Junior, 7, remained a constant menace and saw a penalty saved.
From the bench, Fran Garcia, 6.5, offered reliability, while Eduardo Camavinga, 6, was understandably short of rhythm on his return. Franco Mastantuono, 6, worked hard, Manuel Angel, 6, made his Champions League debut, and Dani Carvajal was not rated as he built minutes.
