Jose Mourinho now has a free hand at making key decisions at Real Madrid, now that Florentino Perez has retained his role as the club’s president.

It has been reported earlier that Mourinho has a clear preference for Nico Paz and is determined to have the player back ahead of next season, after an impressive loan spell at Como.

According to Sky Sports, Brahim Diaz is among the players Real Madrid consider transferable this summer, as the club looks to free up space in a crowded attacking sector to facilitate Paz’s reintegration into the first-team setup.

However, the news has not gone down well with the Moroccan international himself. Diaz has no intention of leaving the Bernabeu and is determined to stay and fight for his place under Mourinho, eager to prove that he deserves to be part of the new project.

It is a situation that puts the 25-year-old in a difficult position. The club’s hierarchy view him as a player who can be moved on to generate space and potentially raise funds.

Diaz, though, sees himself as someone with unfinished business at Real Madrid.

Mourinho’s preference for a 4-2-3-1 formation and his desire for creative, versatile players between the lines point clearly towards Paz as a priority addition.

The Argentine international had a remarkable season at Como, contributing 12 goals and seven assists in Serie A and playing a key role in their historic Champions League qualification.

With Real Madrid holding a buy-back option worth just €9 million, Paz’s return represents exceptional value.

But making room for him means players like Brahim may miss out on Mourinho’s plans. Whether or not the club will be successful in getting rid of the Moroccan international remains to be seen.
