In a huge development, Spanish publication ElDesmarque reports that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has his sights set on a move for Barcelona superstar Pedri in 2027.
The news was initially broken by journalist Siro Lopez earlier in the week, as he revealed that Perez saw the signing of Pedri from Barça as a ‘dream’ operation.
Back in 2000, Perez raided Barcelona to sign Luis Figo in one of the most infamous transfers in modern football history.
Now, Perez has his eyes on a similar move, with Pedri in his sights. As per the report, the move would be for the 2027/28 season, meaning the Real Madrid president is considering signing the Spanish international in the summer of 2027.
It must be remembered that Real Madrid have been scouring the market for midfielders after having failed to replace both Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.

As such, the signing of a new midfielder for the upcoming summer transfer window is at the top of the agenda. But Perez is already looking beyond that and is keen on making a deal for Pedri materialise in 2027.
However, it would be an almost impossible transfer for several reasons. Pedri is under contract with Barcelona until 2030, has a €1 billion release clause and, above all, feels a strong sense of belonging to the Blaugrana.
Real Madrid had a chance to sign the 23-year-old Spanish international when he was handed a trial at a young age. However, as confirmed by the player himself, the club turned him down.
“When I took the test at Valdebebas it was strange; they told me I wasn’t up to standard and I went home,” Pedri had revealed in an interview back in 2025.
Now, despite Perez’s wishes, a transfer appears impossible, given the strained relations between the two clubs as well as Pedri’s strong allegiance towards Barcelona.
