Real Madrid have a lot on the line as they prepare for the Spanish Super Cup final later today.

For starters, the future of the manager may depend on the result, but it is more important for the dressing room to lift the title as a testament to the project moving in the right direction.

The motivation, needless to say, is sky-high and the Merengues are desperate to lift a title after over a year. As reported by Defensa Central, Florentino Perez has now given the players an additional reason to fight for the title.

Improved bonuses

It is regarded as a common practice in Real Madrid to hand players bonuses for winning specific title-deciding matches over the course of the season, and the Spanish Super Cup final is unsurprisingly in that bracket.

Initially, the players were expected to each receive €150,000 for winning the title in Saudi Arabia as a bonus from the administration.

Perez, however, has now upped the ante and is offering each player €200,000 for the win – something that shows how deeply the president sees the club to be in need of a title.

While the monetary bonus will not be all that the players will fight for on the night, it is clear that it gives them more impetus to put their everything on the field and lift the title against their arch-rivals.

For Real Madrid, the €50,000 increase per player is a non-significant one considering how important the Clasico and the title are is for them. Moreover, winning the title will hand the board a massive windfall, and sharing part of it with the players is only fair.
