PSG have leaned heavily into recruiting top French talent in recent windows, adding Bradley Barcola, Désiré Doué, and Lucas Chevalier as part of that plan.

That push appears far from over as they work to reinforce the back line. Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté has surfaced as one option, but the focus may shift toward another marquee French center back.

Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano is drawing interest, with his contract running through the 2025–26 campaign. As a result, Fabrizio Romano reported that PSG are monitoring how things unfold for him in Germany.

Moreover, Romano indicated that a move could open up in the summer of 2026 if Upamecano chooses not to renew with Bayern, making him available on a free transfer.

BBC Sport reports that Upamecano, long on Real Madrid’s radar, is deep into talks about extending his stay with Bayern Munich. The defender’s contract is up at the end of the summer, and several Premier League sides — Man United, Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea — have been linked to the 27-year-old.

Furthermore, amid transfer rumors, Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer recently spoke about Upamecano’s future at the German club.

“I’m optimistic to get new deal done,” Hainer said (h/t Fabrizio Romano). “I’m hearing that he’s extremely happy at Bayern, he feels incredibly comfortable in the team, and he also feels incredibly comfortable with the coach.”
