Real Madrid pushing to sign Arsenal star in January

Real Madrid were among the clubs that wanted to sign Martin Zubimendi in the summer, as they and Chelsea tried to convince the midfielder to join their squads.

However, Arsenal wanted to keep the World Cup winner despite signing Bruno Guimaraes, and they got their wish. The Gunners now have much stronger depth in midfield as they look to compete across the season.

Arsenal see themselves as one of the top teams in the world and believe they need to keep their best players to continue competing this term, which they expect to be better than the last one.

The Gunners have consistently kept their players happy, but it is difficult to say Zubimendi is satisfied with his current situation, as he has hardly received game time at the Emirates over the last few weeks.

Zubimendi facing limited game time

Since returning from the World Cup, Zubimendi has been spending time on the bench, and his lack of regular football could eventually lead to questions over his future at Arsenal.

The midfielder was the subject of interest from Real Madrid and Chelsea during the summer, but Arsenal were determined to retain him. The club now face the possibility of having to make another decision if his situation does not improve.

Zubimendi remains an important part of Arsenal’s midfield options, particularly after the club strengthened that area by signing Guimaraes. However, having greater depth also means increased competition for places.

Real Madrid maintain interest

Zubimendi could leave in the middle of the season, as Team Talk reports that Real Madrid are pushing to add him to their squad. The La Liga side considers him one of its most important targets and has maintained contact with his agents.

Real Madrid could therefore push to seal a deal as soon as the transfer window reopens next year. Arsenal would love to keep Zubimendi, but his limited opportunities could make his future increasingly uncertain.

If the midfielder continues to struggle for regular playing time, Arsenal may eventually have to consider allowing him to leave. For now, however, Zubimendi remains at the Emirates, while Real Madrid continues to monitor his situation and prepare for a potential approach when the transfer window reopens.
