Real Madrid are reportedly on the verge of securing their first signing of the upcoming summer transfer window.According to French journalist Santi Aouna, the Madrid club has reached a verbal agreement with Dayot Upamecano, the French international defender from Bayern Munich.The Foot Mercato journalist wrote on his (X) account:
- Real Madrid and Dayot Upamecano are close to a verbal agreement.- For now, Real Madrid are leading the race to sign the French international.- Bayern Munich are still trying to extend his contract. PSG are keeping a close eye on his situation.
According to several media outlets, including Marca, Upamecano has informed his agent that he wants to join Real Madrid next season.The Frenchman’s contract with Bayern Munich runs until the end of the 2025/26 season. The Bavarian club are still trying to tie him down to a new deal, but negotiations have yet to reach a breakthrough.It’s worth remembering that Bayern signed Upamecano in the summer of 2021 from Leipzig for €42.5 million, and he has since established himself as one of the pillars of the German club’s defence.
