In a recent revelation made by MARCA, it has come to light that Borussia Dortmund have made an official move to sign Real Madrid’s rising defensive talent Diego Aguado.

The Bundesliga club has reportedly submitted a €6 million bid for the 18-year-old, who is gaining attention across Europe following an impressive breakout season.

Aguado, who made his senior debut under Carlo Ancelotti this season, is expected to travel to the United States with the Real Madrid squad for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.

His ability to play both as a full-back and a centre-back has added to his growing value, making him one of the most versatile defenders to emerge from the youth ranks at Valdebebas in recent times.

Real Madrid trust Aguado

Real Madrid recently renewed Aguado’s contract until 2029, in line with their policy for top youth prospects who reach the age of 18. This renewal included a significant buyout clause aimed at protecting the club from losing talent prematurely.

The long-term deal is part of Madrid’s strategy to retain control over their most promising young players in the face of increasing interest from top clubs across Europe.

As such, the bid from Borussia Dortmund was presented via the player’s agent. While Madrid have acknowledged the German side’s interest, they are in no hurry to respond.

The club’s current focus is on Aguado’s participation in the Club World Cup, after which any transfer discussions will take place.

For what it is worth, Borussia Dortmund are not alone in their pursuit. A Serie A club has also made initial contact regarding Aguado’s situation, adding more weight to the growing buzz around the youngster.

Real Madrid are aware that their youth system has become a breeding ground for top-level talent, generating millions in transfers while maintaining a strong core for their future.

For now, what is certain is that Aguado will be a part of the Club World Cup, after which Real Madrid are likely to make a decision.
