Real Madrid have been sweating on the fitness of Kylian Mbappe in recent days, following his withdrawal from France’s squad due to an ankle injury. The 26-year-old suffered a blow in Les Bleus’ victory over Azerbaijan on Friday, which had followed a similar issue to the one he picked up against Villarreal six days prior.
Mbappe has been in sensational form at the start of the season, having scored in all but one of his appearances for club and country. In total, he has 17 goals and four assists in only 13 matches, with 14 of those goals coming for Real Madrid. However, there has been doubts about whether he will be able to face Getafe this weekend, but it appears that Los Blancos officials can breathe a sigh of relief.
According to The Athletic, Mbappe is expected to be fit and available to face Getafe at the Coliseum on Sunday, as his ankle issue is considered to be very minor. He should be able to train with his teammates in the coming days, with the likelihood being that he will be in the starting line-up.

However, there is a chance that Mbappe is rested against Getafe, albeit not because of his ankle. Real Madrid’s following two matches are against Juventus (Champions League) and Barcelona in the first El Clasico clash of the season, and Xabi Alonso will surely be counting on the Frenchman to start in both fixtures.
It remains to be seen whether Mbappe is given a reprieve, but it would be smart given that he has been forced off in his last two appearances for club and country. Real Madrid need him available against Barcelona at the very least, given how important that match could be for the La Liga title race.
