Franco Mastantuono is considered one of the most gifted young footballers coming through in Argentina, with the 17-year-old already becoming a regular in the River Plate starting lineup.

The Argentine prodigy has long been on the radars of Real Madrid, who made an attempt to sign him last year but things fell through as his agent leveraged the interest to secure a new contract with River.

However, the club’s football director, Santiago Solari, has once again been pushing Los Blancos to make a move for Mastantuono in the summer and as such his name is back on the table at the Bernabeu.

PSG ready to activate Mastantuono’s release clause

At the same time, though, PSG are also pushing to sign Mastantuono from River Plate and have already made their move for the attacking midfielder.

In fact, TyC Sports now reports that the French champions are ready to trigger the youngster’s $45 million release clause to sign him at the earliest possible.

However, it is further stated that the 17-year-old wonderkid’s dream still remains to play for Real Madrid and is prepared to wait for the Spanish giants.

But, Real Madrid, despite holding an interest in Mastantuono, consider the $45 million release clause steep and have decided to wait before making any move.

This has seemingly left the door open for PSG to swoop in and convince the youngster to make the switch to Parc des Princes.

River Plate are not keen to lose their crown jewel but understand that sooner or later he will move to Europe.

Mastantuono, for his part, has given his word to the club that he will stay until December and participate in the FIFA Club World Cup and the Copa Libertadores.

So, the report states that PSG could activate his release clause, sign him, and leave him on loan in Argentina until the end of the year.

Real Madrid, thus, will have their task cut out and must act swiftly if they do not wish to miss out on Mastantuono’s signing as despite his desire, the player might not be willing to wait for too long.
