Real Madrid rule out more signings before deadline day, but exit doors remain open | OneFootball

It would be fair to say that Real Madrid have had an eventful summer, with changes made to the coaching staff as well as the squad.

Jose Mourinho became the first major arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, followed by six major new signings to improve the roster.

Despite that, the Merengues continued to be linked with moves for a midfielder and another centre-back, with the manager understood to be still seeking reinforcements in the areas.

No more signings

However, with the transfer deadline day almost upon us, journalist Jose Felix Diaz (via Ruben Martin YouTube) reports that Real Madrid will not make any more new signings before the window closes.

Indeed, Los Blancos will not bring in any new players before the transfer window slams shut on Tuesday, 1 September, at midnight.

The Spanish capital giants have made as many as six major signings this summer, starting with World Cup winner Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konate, Bernardo Silva, Denzel Dumfries, and Yan Diomande.

The Ivorian winger has made headlines as he became the most expensive signing in club history at €140 million, including add-ons, despite being only 19 years old.

The Merengues have also added 19-year-old midfield talent Sergio Martinez from Racing Santander earlier today, although he will be a part of the Castilla setup initially.

Real Madrid also pressed to sign a top midfielder, but their primary target, Rodri, chose to join arch-rivals FC Barcelona instead.

Mourinho also wanted a left-footed centre-back to further bolster the squad, with Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni being his preferred option. However, nothing came of it in the end.

Now, with only one day left before the window closes, no signings will arrive.

Exits could happen

However, as per Jose Felix Diaz, Real Madrid are not completely closing the doors on exits before the deadline.

The Merengues have been trying to offload Eduardo Camavinga, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, but the player has so far refused to leave.

Raul Asencio, too, does not have a major role in Mourinho’s project, and has been made available for a departure. But the academy product remains reluctant to leave the club.

It remains to be seen if any exits happen or not, but for now, what seems certain is that no more new signings will be made.
