Real Madrid have sealed the signing of Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig for around €120 million on a five-year deal. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the Ivory Coast winger will add versatility to Mourinho’s attack.

Diomande departs Leipzig a year after joining for €20 million. It is estimated the Bundesliga club will make a sixfold return on that outlay. He has played around 50 senior matches, catching Europe’s eye.

Madrid revived the Diomande option after abandoning a move for Michael Olise, with Bayern erecting firm resistance despite suggestions the player was open to Spain. The club had long kept Diomande on their radar.

The transfer carries symbolic weight. The player had reached an agreement with PSG, Madrid’s key market rival, which now looks to frustrate the Rodri operation. It also raises genuine competition in attack and challenges the Mbappé, Bellingham and Vinicius hierarchy.

Diomande and Vinicius share the ROC Nation agency, which will travel to Madrid to finalise the deal and seek a solution for Vinicius. An official announcement is expected on Tuesday, before Mourinho’s side head to Austria for pre-season.

This week Madrid also have a training match against Leganés, Diomande’s former club, which will receive 10% of the capital gain from the transfer.
