Adam Wharton has become a talked-about figure in the Real Madrid camp lately, as the club grow seemingly desperate to sign a new defensive midfielder.
Currently plying his trade for Crystal Palace, Wharton has emerged as a top target due to his ability to rotate possession and control the tempo in the middle of the park.
While the Englishman is no Toni Kroos, he is just 21 and has shown immense potential, thus making him an ideal target for Los Blancos.
Keeping that in mind, Defensa Central reports that Real Madrid are ready to splash €60 million for the services of Adam Wharton.
However, this does not necessarily mean Los Blancos are now in pole position to sign the Crystal Palace star.

In fact, the report suggests the €60 million figure is the ceiling for Real Madrid and should Wharton’s asking price go above this threshold, the club will not enter in any bidding war.
This is a strategy Real Madrid have employed for many of their previous targets, though not all of them culminated in signings.
Nevertheless, with a price tag of €60 million, the onus will be on Real Madrid to try and convince Crystal Palace to offload their star midfielder on a cut-price deal.
The Eagles, though, are unlikely to budge for such a low figure. In fact, the club are reportedly eager to extend Wharton’s contract so that they can fend off interest from top clubs across Europe.
That is why Real Madrid are banking on Wharton himself, knowing the player rebelling against the club could go a long way in putting pressure on Palace.
