The powers that be at La Liga giants Real Madrid have earmarked two of Europe’s most highly-regarded young defenders as potential future signings.
That’s according to Marca, who highlight Jorrel Hato and Castello Lukeba as the pair in question.
Real, of course, are widely understood to be on the lookout for reinforcements at the back, with a view to the 2nd half of the campaign.
This comes after Los Blancos’ existing injury crisis was added to by Éder Militão, over the weekend.
En route to the club’s 4-0 La Liga drubbing of Osasuna, Militão was stretchered out of proceedings with what was later confirmed to be an ACL tear.
With all of David Alaba, Dani Carvajal and Joan Martínez sidelined long-term, too, Florentino Pérez and co. have in turn kickstarted a search for winter additions to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.
And sitting at the very top of the wishlist of the Champions League holders, it is understood, are the aforementioned Hato and Lukeba.
As per Marca:
‘Above all, the names of Lukeba and Hato stand out, operations that in winter or summer will go close to 60 or 70 million euros.’
For those not familiar with their names, Lukeba is a 21-year-old central defender, currently plying his trade with RB Leipzig, whilst Hato is an 18-year-old Ajax centre-back/left-back, widely considered to be one of the game’s standout young talents.
