Dani Ceballos’ future at Real Madrid remains one of the key stories to watch this summer, but a fresh report has cast doubt on recent claims surrounding the midfielder’s expected departure.

Over the past few weeks, multiple reports suggested that Real Madrid were prepared to let Ceballos leave without demanding a transfer fee

The idea was that the club’s priority was to reduce the size of the squad and create room for new midfield additions rather than generate income from the Spaniard’s exit.

However, the latest information from El Chiringuito TV paints a very different picture.

What’s the story?

According to the latest update, Real Madrid have no intention of allowing Ceballos to leave for free despite the recent speculation.

The report states that club officials expect to receive financial compensation before approving any departure.

Whether that comes through a permanent transfer, a structured agreement or another formula, Los Blancos are not prepared to simply release the midfielder without securing value in return.

That position directly contradicts previous reports, which claimed the club had abandoned any plans to collect a transfer fee in order to speed up the player’s exit.

Instead, Real Madrid now appear determined to retain control over the situation while continuing discussions regarding the midfielder’s future.

Real Betis remain Ceballos’ preferred destination

Ceballos has been heavily linked with a return to Real Betis, where he made his breakthrough before joining Real Madrid in 2017.

Negotiations over his future are expected to continue, but the latest report suggests that any agreement may prove more complicated than initially expected if Real Madrid insist on receiving compensation.

The midfielder has found regular playing time difficult to secure in Madrid, and with the club actively working on strengthening the midfield this summer, his departure still appears likely.

Even so, Real Madrid’s stance indicates they are in no rush to weaken their negotiating position simply to accelerate the process.

While creating space for new midfield arrivals indeed remains an important objective, protecting the club’s financial interests also appears to be a priority.

If the latest report is accurate, Madrid will only approve Ceballos’ departure under terms they consider beneficial rather than allowing one of their senior midfielders to leave without receiving anything in return.
