Real Madrid are reeling from what could possibly be the most serious disciplinary breach in the history of the Valdebebas training complex.
The physical confrontation between Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni on Thursday has laid bare the deep divide within the locker room and the club are already working towards taking actions.
Disciplinary proceedings have already been opened against the two midfielders and the Merengues are working on possible sanctions for the pair.
And, according to journalist Alberto Pereiro, Real Madrid are preparing to issue “unprecedented” sanctions that could redefine player discipline at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Sources close to the club indicate that the disciplinary measures will be severe, likely falling between three and ten matches suspension according to internal regulations.
Furthermore, the financial penalties are expected to be substantial. Discussions within the club suggest fines could reach 5% of each player’s gross annual salary, which would represent a staggering €500,000 each – a sanction described as unprecedented in the club’s history.

The atmosphere at Valdebebas is tense, with long-standing staff members characterising the incident as the most serious disciplinary matter ever witnessed at the training ground.
The gravity of the situation has led to intense internal scrutiny regarding the conduct expected of professional athletes representing the badge.
Despite the severity of these events, Real Madrid appear committed to the players’ long-term roles. Both Tchouameni and Valverde are still considered integral to the future of the project.
However, it is understood that the board views Valverde’s involvement with particular disappointment.
Given his status as a captain within the first-team squad, the hierarchy places a higher degree of accountability on the Uruguayan international, noting that leadership positions carry an inherent responsibility to uphold the club’s values.
As the season draws to a close, Real Madrid find themselves in uncharted territory, balancing the need for strict disciplinary action with the long-term stability of the squad.
The coming days will reveal how the club manages this internal crisis and whether these record-breaking fines will serve as a definitive deterrent for future misconduct.
