The signing of young right-back Guille Gonzalez for Real Madrid has been made official, after agreeing a deal with Cadiz. The teenage defender was linked to Los Blancos in recent weeks, and is set to join their third team initially.
Gonzalez, 17, has spent his young career at Cadiz, having joined Los Gaditanos at the age of just 12. He had signed a contract renewal until 2028, but Los Blancos have clearly seen enough to spend on the young right-back. Cadiz have now announced that the deal will go ahead, after reaching an agreement with Real Madrid.
Previous reports have indicated that Los Blancos will stump up around €500k for Gonzalez, a show of their faith in his talent. He was operating for Cadiz’s under-19 side, and has also represented Spain at under-18 level. Gonzalez is slated for a spot in Real Madrid’s C team, with a view to him moving up to the Castilla side in the near future. The former play in Spain’s fourth tier, Segunda RFEF, while the latter are in Primera RFEF, the third tier. Gonzalez is their second winter recruit for their youth ranks, after Manex Rezola arrived from Logrones last week.

The 17-year-old will arrive with hopes of making the jump up to Alvaro Arbeloa’s Castilla side shortly. Currently, David Jimenez and Jesus Fortea are ahead of him. Speculating, this could well be a move anticipating possible departures in the summer, although they may simply have seen an opportunity. Fortea, 18, was expected to have been given more opportunities in the first team by this point, especially considering the injuries to Dani Carvajal and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Meanwhile Carvajal is supposedly considering an exit from Real Madrid in the summer as his contract expires. It could also be that Real Madrid decide to cash in on Jimenez, who debuted under Xabi Alonso this month.
