Real Madrid staff not pleased with the treatment of French international following latest injury – report | OneFootball

Kylian Mbappe’s injury worries at Real Madrid continued after the Frenchman picked up a knock in the win over Turkey, shortly after scoring the winner in the second half.

Mbappe has been subsequently sidelined for at least two weeks, meaning he will be missing out on the rest of the international break.

The setback has caused frustration at Real Madrid, who feel the situation could have been avoided.

According to L’Equipe, Real Madrid’s medical staff were less than pleased with how the France camp handled Mbappe.

The forward had arrived at Clairefontaine last Monday with slight pain in his left knee, the very same area he has now injured.

Real Madrid reportedly informed the French national team’s medical staff of all the relevant details, advising caution with the player, and had hoped he would be rested for the fixture in Turkiye.

Instead, Mbappe started and was forced off in the 59th minute, immediately drawing concern from Jose Mourinho, who called his striker over.

Real Madrid have since confirmed the 27-year-old suffered a hyperextension of his left knee, with clinical examinations in Turkiye ruling out a cruciate ligament rupture. Reports suggest he could be sidelined for around two to three weeks.

France coach Zinedine Zidane, who had chosen to start Mbappe, quickly opted to send him back to his club rather than have him undergo further tests under the national team’s supervision, a move seen as a way to avoid any tension with Real Madrid.

The timing of the injury is far from ideal, with a demanding run of fixtures awaiting Real Madrid once the international break ends.

Los Blancos, currently fourth in LaLiga, face an away trip to AS Roma in the Champions League on the 14th, a home clash with Sevilla on the 18th, and then El Clasico against Barcelona on the 25th.

Mourinho will be desperate to have his talisman available for all three, particularly the trip to Camp Nou. To that end, Real Madrid have already implemented a treatment protocol for Mbappe to avoid any further delays in his recovery.

Given how influential the Frenchman has been this season, with eight goals in eight matches, his absence would be a significant blow.
