Real Madrid are approaching a decisive phase of their season and at the centre of it all is the future of Alvaro Arbeloa.
With results under scrutiny and expectations sky-high, the club’s hierarchy has now drawn a clear line regarding the manager’s continuity beyond this campaign.
According to a recent revelation from Ok Diario, Real Madrid are prepared to back Arbeloa, but only if he delivers when it matters most.
As such, winning either La Liga or the UEFA Champions League would effectively secure his position as head coach for next season.
Even without silverware, there is still a potential pathway for him to stay.
As per the outlet, should the team remain competitive in the title race until the very end and produce a strong showing in Europe, his chances of continuing in charge would remain high.
Despite inconsistent results, including setbacks like the recent defeat to Mallorca, the management do not view the coach as the primary cause of the team’s struggles.
Instead, responsibility has largely been placed on the players.
That internal backing, however, comes with a condition that results must now follow.

Real Madrid’s leadership are keen to maintain stability and believes Arbeloa has shown enough tactical understanding and leadership qualities to justify continuity.
But belief alone is not enough at a club of this magnitude. Evidence is required. And that evidence may need to arrive immediately.
With Los Blancos currently trailing Barcelona by seven points in La Liga with just eight matches remaining, their domestic title hopes are hanging by a thread.
That shifts the spotlight onto Europe.
The UEFA Champions League now represents Real Madrid’s most viable route to success this season.
Their quarter-final tie against Bayern Munich, as a result, could define the entire story of their campaign.
Failure to overcome Bayern, combined with their fading La Liga challenge, would leave Real Madrid without a clear objective before the season even reaches its final stretch.
On the other hand, a strong performance, particularly a victory against Bayern, could completely shift the mood.
It would not only keep their Champions League hopes alive but also provide the “proof” the board are looking for to justify their continued faith in the manager.
