A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has this week received the public backing of ex-Bayern Munich star Jérôme Boateng.

This comes in the aftermath of Germany’s Nations League defeat at the hands of Portugal.

Die Mannschaft locked horns with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal on Wednesday evening, in a highly-anticipated Nations League semi-final showdown.

When all was said and done, Julian Nagelsmann’s troops were put to the sword, though, condemned to the wrong side of a 2-1 result.

And as alluded to above, post-match, Jérôme Boateng was quick to launch a defence of an absent member of the Germans’ backline.

After recent criticism on the part of the nation’s supporters, some of whom have gone as far as to claim that Germany would be better off without Real Madrid star Antonio Rüdiger, Boateng took to Instagram, to write:

‘Without Rüdiger, better right?’, accompanied by shushing and clown emojis.
