According to a report from journalist Rodra (h/t RM4 Arab), David Alaba’s return to action for Real Madrid is not anticipated in the immediate future, as his recovery from a serious injury is progressing slowly.
Alaba sustained a significant injury on December 17, 2023, during a match against Villarreal. The injury involved a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament of his left leg, which also affected his meniscus.
Currently, the defender is undergoing rehabilitation, training alone at Valdebebas. Initially, he had aimed to return to competitive football by October, but it has become clear that he will need to wait longer.
The current plan is for Alaba to rejoin the squad in January, coinciding with the opening of the winter transfer window. If this timeline holds, he will have spent approximately thirteen months away from the game, a significant absence that has deeply impacted the team.

Despite these challenges, recent reports from Real Madrid’s training facilities suggest that Alaba’s condition is improving. He appears to be regaining his fitness and is showing signs of readiness to return to the high demands of elite football.
Nevertheless, experts within the club believe he may still require a few more months before he can perform at the level expected of him.
Alaba’s presence is highly valued by head coach Carlo Ancelotti, especially given the current defensive challenges faced by the team.
Ancelotti considers Alaba a crucial player, and the club is taking every precaution to ensure he does not rush back into action prematurely.
The hope is that when he does return, it will be in peak condition, ready to contribute significantly to the team’s success. The club and its fans are eagerly awaiting the day when Alaba can don the Real Madrid jersey once again, marking a triumphant comeback to the pitch.
