Real Madrid star received summer offers from Chelsea & Liverpool | OneFootball

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid was the recipient of transfer proposals from a pair of leading Premier League clubs over the summer.

That’s according to Marca, who highlight Raúl Asencio as the player in question.

Stopper Asencio was for his part heavily linked with a move away from Spain’s capital throughout the summer transfer window.

Knocked further down the centre-back pecking order in José Mourinho’s squad courtesy of the arrival of Ibrahima Konaté, the Spaniard was informed that he did not feature prominently in the plans of his new manager.

From here, a number of clubs expressed an interest in bringing Asencio in, prior to the 23-year-old suffering an injury which ruled out any potential transfer.

And as alluded to above, on Monday, the identity of two such suitors has been revealed. As per a report from Marca:

‘As many as three offers arrived on Asencio’s desk during the summer. Two came from the Premier League, with Chelsea and Liverpool showing interest, and another from Turkey with a financial offer that could make almost any footballer hesitate.’
