The FC Barcelona forward Raphinha was one of the starters for Brazil as the Canarinha took to the pitch for their second game of the World Cup 2026, against Haiti. Carlo Ancelotti’s side picked up a 3-0 win from this game, but still need to get the job done with the third game of the group stage, against Scotland, to secure their passage to the knock-out stages of the competition.
Despite his team’s win, this was a difficult night for Raphinha, as he could play for only 40 minutes in this game. At this point, he felt some pain in his right leg, and as a result, was subbed out for Rayan. An official statement from the CBF after the game revealed that the pain was in his right thigh muscle, with further tests yet to be carried out on him.
Being one of the leaders of the national team’s attack, it would definitely be a blow for Brazil is Raphinha is sidelined for an extended period of time with this injury.
As Mundo Deportivo has noted, one of his colleagues in attack, the Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior, recognized the importance of the Barcelona forward in his national team, and expressed his hope that he was not suffering anything serious, as he talked to the media after the game. The Merengue star said:
“Suffering an injury is always very difficult, especially for Raphinha, who is a very important player for us and who has already suffered a lot from injuries this season… We hope it’s nothing serious and that he can stay with us until the end of the World Cup.”
Although the two players play for opposite teams in El Clasicos, they both would be looking to put aside their club differences to ensure they can get their Brazilian national team as far as possible in the World Cup. Being one of the very best forwards in the world, the Canarinha team depends a lot on Raphinha if they are to go far in the competition.
Thus, not only Barcelona, but the entire country of Brazil would also be hoping that the star attacker is not suffering from anything serious, and would be available for Carlo Ancelotti for the upcoming game against Scotland.
