Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga has seen his talents tested in a new-look role during the club’s showdown with Barcelona.

The Frenchman, in a major surprise, has repeatedly taken his place on the right wing during the early exchanges of El Clásico.

Xabi Alonso opted to tweak his XI on Sunday, reintroducing Camavinga, dropping Brahim Díaz to the bench, and continuing with Federico Valverde at right-back.

As much was expected to culminate in ‘Cama’ being entrusted with keeping tabs on Pedri, in a direct effort to keep the influence of Barca’s midfield standout to a minimum.

Instead, however, as alluded to above, the Frenchman has been fielded out wide.

In an experiment which has worked supremely to date, Real Madrid have allowed Aurélien Tchouaméni, Jude Bellingham and Arda Güler to patrol the middle of the park, whilst Camavinga drifts to the right.

As much has created several imbalances in Barcelona’s defensive setup, as the Blaugrana attempt to come to terms with the new-look Blancos.

Camavinga, for his part, has excelled in possession, whilst also providing much-needed cover on the defensive side of the ball.

As things stand, Real Madrid boast a 1-0 lead in the Clásico, courtesy of a solitary Kylian Mbappé strike.
