La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Thursday announced a fresh setback on the personnel front.
This comes amid confirmation that Ferland Mendy is set for an incoming spell on the sidelines.
Defender Mendy, for his part, was in from the off once more on Wednesday night, as Real Madrid made the trip across Spain’s capital for a Madrid Derby showdown in the Champions League’s Last-16.
When all was said and done, Carlo Ancelotti’s visitors booked their spot in the competition’s quarter-finals, owing to a penalty shootout triumph.
Mendy, however, was forced into a departure from the action, after pulling up with what appeared to be a muscular issue late in the 90.
And as alluded to above, a day on, the extent of the Frenchman’s problem has been confirmed.
As per a statement across Real Madrid’s website and social media platforms:
‘Following tests carried out on Ferland Mendy today by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a hamstring injury in his left leg. His recovery will be assessed.’
Early reports point towards Mendy being in line for a spell of three to four weeks on the treatment table.
