Vinícius Jr.’s situation at Real Madrid is becoming less settled, and PSG appear ready to keep an eye on it. Once the 2025-26 campaign ends, the Brazilian forward will be down to the final year of his deal, which is set to expire in June 2027.

That timeline pushes Madrid toward a decision: secure a renewal soon or look at a sale next summer rather than risk him walking away for nothing.

Kylian Mbappé’s arrival last year also changes the picture. The club could view this moment as an opportunity to maximize Vinícius Jr.’s market value and reshape the team around the former PSG standout.

SPORT have noted in the past that Vinícius Jr. would be willing to play for Luis Enrique in Paris. How things progress is still unclear, though it could leave Mbappé watching a scenario that brings to mind Neymar Jr.’s move in Spain.

The Athletic reported Monday, citing sources, that Vinicius has told Real Madrid he does not plan to renew his contract while his relationship with head coach Xabi Alonso remains strained.

Moreover, the report notes that Vinicius spoke with Madrid president Florentino Perez late last month, and that’s when the message was passed along.

“At that meeting, the subject of Vinicius Jr’s future was also discussed,” the report said. “He made it known that he feels extending is not the best option for him due to his relationship with Alonso. There has been no change in that position since.

“Sources close to the Brazilian have several times told The Athletic of concerns he has with Alonso, who was appointed as Carlo Ancelotti’s replacement back in May. Over the first three months of the new season, tensions have only grown. Now, it is a topic of daily debate inside and outside the club.”
