An up-and-coming member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has been confirmed as having suffered a serious knee injury.
The player in question? César Palacios.
Youngster Palacios was for his part back in action in the early hours of Thursday morning.
As much came by way of an appearance off the bench in Real Madrid’s friendly meeting with Italian heavyweights AC Milan.
En route to an eventual 1-0 defeat, however, the 19-year-old did not last long, forced into a premature departure from proceedings owing to a knee problem.
Speaking to the media post-match, Carlo Ancelotti hinted at the issue being a serious one, explaining:
“Palacios has a knee problem and it is not looking good.”
And, as alluded to above, on Thursday afternoon, as much, unfortunately, has been confirmed.
As per a report from Blancos insider Mario Cortegana of The Athletic:
‘César Palacios has an anterior cruciate knee injury. He is due to return to Spain tomorrow, and then further tests will be carried out and it will be confirmed whether he will undergo surgery.’
