La Liga giants Real Madrid have brought a halt to negotiations with defensive star Antonio Rüdiger, regarding the renewal of his contract.
This comes with the German currently sidelined long-term through injury.
Stopper Rüdiger is as things stand due to bring a close to his time on Real Madrid’s books in the summer of 2026.
As much comes ahead of the expiration of his contract terms.
The former Chelsea man has for his part long made clear to those behind the scenes in Spain’s capital his eagerness to sign fresh terms and stay put.
This stance culminated in talks over a renewal being kickstarted with Rüdiger’s entourage several months ago.
As alluded to above, however, these discussions have since been put on hold.
As per a report from Marca, the parties made the call to put a stop to negotiations upon Rüdiger suffering a long-term injury earlier in the season.
All going according to plan, a fresh meeting will in turn be held upon the 32-year-old recovering full fitness, which may not come until early next year.
