Paris Saint-Germain have been relatively quiet so far this summer transfer window. The only move the Parisians have made was signing Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov last month. Other than that, the Parisians have done nothing.

However, the reigning Ligue 1 champions have been quiet for various reasons. The first reason is the ongoing international tournaments UEFA Euro 2024 and the 2024 Copa América. Players are concentrated on what’s transpiring with their national teams.

Still, the transfer action should pick up shortly after the competitions end. Nonetheless, there’s another reason PSG have been relatively quiet so far: Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reports PSG aren’t very active in the transfer market right now because they’re still working out a financial agreement for Mbappé’s departure.

Once that’s settled, the club will have a clear idea of their budget for the summer transfer window. Last month, a report revealed that Mbappé has demanded €100 million from PSG for unpaid bonuses and salaries, covering wages owed for April and May.

PSG also seems hesitant to pay his June salary or a pending loyalty bonus. Mbappé has filed his claim through the French league, citing Article 259 of the professional football charter, which requires clubs to pay players’ salaries by the last day of each month.

Reports suggested he offered to waive €55 million in due bonuses, but this agreement was verbal and did not alter his contract. PSG claims that Mbappé verbally agreed to forfeit €80 million in loyalty bonuses and salary, though there is no formal documentation of this agreement.
