Members of the first-team ranks at La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid will be forced to put niceties to one side for an evening at next summer’s World Cup.
The highly-anticipated 2026 World Cup draw of course took place earlier this evening, as nations big and small discovered their paths to the tournament’s knockout phase.
Spain, considered amongst the very favourites to go all the way in North America, will no doubt fancy their chances of emerging from the groups unscathed.
As much comes with Luis de la Fuente’s troops have been pitted against Saudi Arabia, Cabo Verde, and Uruguay.
As alluded to above, though, it is the presence of the latter of these countries in Group H which will likely force leading figures from Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid squad to lock horns.
Blancos midfielder Federico Valverde will be expected to lead Marcelo Bielsa’s Uruguay into the World Cup.
And upon facing off with Spain, Valverde could well meet with all of Dean Huijsen, Dani Carvajal, and even Álvaro Carreras.
