Real Madrid striker Endrick has become a priority target for Ligue 1 giants Olympique Lyon, according to French news outlet L’Equipe.

The 19-year-old striker hasn’t kicked a ball for Los Blancos since Xabi Alonso replaced Carlo Ancelotti in the dugout and is angling for a move away from Santiago Bernabeu in January.

Endrick has fallen down the pecking order at Madrid, with even Gonzalo Garcia, who broke through in last summer’s Club World Cup campaign, rated ahead of the Brazilian striker.

The teenager was once considered one of the finest talents to come out of South America before his big-money move to Madrid, but he has struggled to find his feet in the Spanish capital.

The Brazilian international started making inroads into the team under Ancelotti last season. He featured 37 times across all competitions, scoring seven times.

However, he has failed to establish himself in Alonso’s long-term plans, so a move away from the club in January seems like the most likely outcome.

Lyon are extending an olive branch to the former Palmeiras striker.

They’re not the only French club looking to capitalise on Endrick’s situation, with reports claiming Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain have also explored the possibility of luring him to the capital.

Endrick has also been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa among clubs keeping a close eye on his situation.

However, Lyon have jumped ahead of the queue and are now leading the race for Endrick.

Les Gones have made an impressive start to the season. They’re in fifth place, but only two points separate them from reigning champions and early pacesetters PSG.

They’re looking to improve their attacking options and see Endrick as a cost-effective reinforcement, but luring him to Groupama Stadium might not be so straightforward.

Lyon have opened talks to sign Endrick. They’re locked in negotiations with the player’s camp, but Madrid’s demands could throw a wrench in their plans.

Endrick is reportedly open to the idea of joining Lyon as the club can offer him a clear pathway to becoming a first-choice striker after Georges Mikautadze’s summer move to Villarreal.

However, with Madrid in a strong negotiating position, they’ll likely demand a sizable loan fee and ask Lyon to cover a significant portion of his €100k per week salary.
