Real Madrid’s problems continue to pile up at a crucial stage of the season, and the latest update surrounding Kylian Mbappe will only deepen concerns inside the club. 

According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, the French superstar is increasingly likely to miss the upcoming La Liga match against Levante at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The timing could hardly be worse for Real Madrid, who are still reeling from their shock Copa del Rey elimination against Albacete. 

That defeat has already raised questions about the squad’s depth and physical condition, and Mbappe’s ongoing knee issue now threatens to complicate matters further.

What happened to Mbappe?

The report explains that while there has been some improvement in his knee, the situation is far from resolved. 

Medical staff remain cautious, especially given the intensity of the upcoming fixtures. 

As noted in the report, “Although the pain in his left knee is subsiding, the French international is still not fit to play a high-level match.”

This lingering discomfort has already limited Mbappe’s involvement in recent games and training sessions. 

The French forward was only able to feature for the final 20 minutes of last Sunday’s Super Cup final against FC Barcelona in Saudi Arabia. 

Just days later, the knee problem ruled him out completely from the Copa del Rey tie, where Alvaro Arbeloa’s side suffered a painful and unexpected exit.

So what now?

Even though Mbappe trained seemingly without restrictions on Thursday, the discomfort in his left knee has not fully disappeared. 

Both the player and the club are aligned in their approach and are unwilling to take unnecessary risks, despite the importance of the upcoming league fixture.

That caution is largely due to what lies ahead. Next Tuesday, Real Madrid face a decisive UEFA Champions League clash against Monaco at the Bernabeu, a match that could define their European campaign. 

With Mbappe currently the team’s top scorer, protecting him for that encounter has become the clear priority.
