A member of the summer recruitment drive at La Liga giants Real Madrid leads all players of the same position in Europe’s top-5 leagues in interceptions across the season to date.

The player in question? Álvaro Carreras.

The name of defender Carreras has of course taken its place front and centre in the chatter surrounding Real Madrid over the last 24 hours.

This comes after the 22-year-old produced his latest standout performance in the colours of Los Blancos.

En route to a 2-1 victory over Olympique Marseille in the Champions League, Carreras was in the eyes of most the very best player on the pitch.

It is the left-back’s efforts on the domestic front, though, which see him, at present, lead all full-backs in one statistical category in 2025/26.
