Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance after their 2-0 victory over Villarreal.
This win came after what Bellingham referred to as a challenging week, which included a 1-1 draw in the derby against Atletico Madrid and a 1-0 loss to Lille in the Champions League.
Bellingham emphasised how crucial it was for the team to bounce back from these setbacks.
“I am very happy with the team’s reaction and the result after a bad week that hurt us,” the midfielder told Real Madrid TV.

He acknowledged that Villarreal is a strong team, known for their ability to move the ball well and possessing quality players. Despite that, Bellingham highlighted how Real Madrid started the game on the front foot.
The team applied pressure early on, which resulted in two outstanding goals. Bellingham believed this strong start set the tone for the match and showed a positive reaction after a difficult week.
“Villarreal is a great team, that moves the ball well.
“They have very quality players, but we started better from the start, with the pressure, in the transitions, with two incredible goals. It was a good reaction to this week,” he added.

One significant concern for Bellingham and the rest of the team was Dani Carvajal’s potential injury. Carvajal suffered an issue with his right knee during the match, and the severity of the injury remains unknown until further tests are conducted.
Bellingham noted that Carvajal is an essential figure in the team, both for his playing ability and his leadership on the pitch.
“We have a bad taste in our mouths about what happened to Dani.
“We still don’t know what happened to him, we have to wait for the tests, hopefully, it’s something minor and that allows him to return as soon as possible because he’s a key player for us and has a huge personality,” he noted.

Bellingham also reflected on the first goal of the match, a long-range shot by Fede Valverde, which he revealed had been practised earlier that day at Valdebebas.
He was pleased to see that effort pay off in the game. He also praised Vinicius for his second goal, which he described as an extraordinary moment of individual brilliance.
“We practiced with Fede Valverde this morning. It’s good that he went in. And Vinicius’ goal was a moment of individual brilliance. It was a magnificent goal.”
In terms of his own performance, Bellingham mentioned that while he hasn’t been scoring as much, he feels good about his contributions on the pitch.
He enjoys being more involved in the game, whether through passing or defending and believes that his overall performance has been strong, even if the goals haven’t been coming as frequently.
“I feel good, I am not scoring goals but I am having more fun and touching the ball more, defending as well.
“Obviously, I want to score again but the important thing is that I can contribute to my game and I feel that I am doing well,” he concluded.
This win marks a positive step for Real Madrid after a tough week, and Bellingham’s focus remains on contributing to the team in any way he can.
