Real Madrid were made to work hard for the three points by Getafe on Sunday night, but a Kylian Mbappe goal and some late heroics from Thibaut Courtois ensured Xabi Alonso & co. came out on top.

Mbappe struck home with ten minutes of regulation time left, but Getafe, despite being reduced to nine men, did not give up and came very close to scoring in stoppage time, only for Courtois to pull off a stunning stop.

However, the Belgian shot-stopper ended the game showing signs of discomfort, leading to concerns among the Real Madrid fanbase.

Courtois only has a bruise, will be able to play El Clasico

Now, according to journalist Javi Herraez on Carrusel, Courtois’ discomfort was only due to a bruise he suffered and there is no major concern.

As such, he will be fit and able to play the first El Clasico of the season later this weekend at the Santiago Bernabeu.

This will come as a big relief for Xabi Alonso and Real Madrid, considering that Courtois is an extremely important player for the team and having him available for a top-of-the-table clash against Barcelona will be pivotal.

As for his involvement in the upcoming UEFA Champions League clash against Juventus, it remains to be seen whether he is risked by Alonso or not.

But, what is clear is that he only has a knock and will be ready to face Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu come Sunday.

The same cannot be said about David Alaba, who was taken off at half-time against Getafe due to a calf strain. The Austrian international will undergo tests later today, following which a clearer picture should emerge.
