Owing to their historical rivalry and their status as two of the biggest clubs in the world, Real Madrid and Barcelona are almost always engaged in a competition, that not only goes on the pitch, but also off it. The two clubs frequently lock horns for bragging rights whether it is in the sphere economic, social, or transfer market spheres.

Another aspect in which both these clubs take particular pride is youth talent development, as their academies are among some of the best, not only in Spain, but also in Europe. The Blaugranes get a lot of credit for this aspect, mainly because of the higher percentage of players from their academy making it to the first team.

However, the quality churned out by Real Madrid is in no way inferior, and this is quite apparent from the high demand that their academy graduates generate in the market. In fact, according to a report from Diario AS, the Merengue club has already surpassed the €500 mark in their earnings from the sales of their La Fabrica graduates since 2005.

Two recent transfers operations have significantly contributed to this sum. The first one was that of Victor Munoz, whose acquisition by Liverpool brought €20 million to the white club’s coffers. Secondly, Nico Paz’s transfer to Como, which is yet to be officially completed yet, is set to bring in another €60 million.

With the income from these sales, Real Madrid would reach the figure of €548.5 million from sales of academy graduates. Meanwhile, Real Madrid are still working on some more transfers, involving the likes of Fran Garcia, Gonzalo Garcia, Raul Asencio, César Palacios , Fran González , and Manuel Ángel, and are aiming to reach the €600 million mark this summer. Hopefully, they will continue to enjoy the fruits of youth talent development for years to come.
