According to reports, Real Madrid head coach Alvaro Arbeloa continues to clash with ‘leaders’ in the dressing room as he is ‘at odds’ with three stars.
At the start of this year, Arbeloa stepped up from his role as Real Madrid Castilla manager to replace Xabi Alonso.
Alonso struggled to maintain control of the Real Madrid dressing room and several poor results contributed to his eventual demise, while Arbeloa appears to be experiencing similar problems.
Arbeloa was quickly drafted in to replace Alonso, though it remains to be seen whether he will be anything more than a short-term solution for the Spanish giants.
Under Arbeloa, Real Madrid are at risk of having another trophyless season as La Liga and the Champions League are their only remaining hope of silverware this term.
In recent weeks, Real Madrid have been heavily linked with several potential long-term replacements for Arbeloa, including Jurgen Klopp and Unai Emery.
There have also been reports of Arbeloa having conflicts with several Real Madrid players, with a report from a Spanish outlet claiming he has ‘at odds’ with ‘three leaders’.
This includes David Alaba, who is among a trio of players who has ‘expressed his discontent’ at Arbeloa as he ‘deserves a more prominent role’.
The report claims Federico Valverde and Dani Carvajal have also clashed with Arbeloa. They added: ‘This isn’t the first time Arbeloa has faced this type of conflict. He’s already clashed with other leaders, such as Dani Carvajal and Fede Valverde, over playing time and the team’s hierarchy.
‘Each confrontation has its own nuances, but the pattern repeats itself, as the coach’s authority clashes with the leaders’ perception of fairness and their desire for a leading role. Alaba now joins that list, further complicating Arbeloa’s situation.’
Arda Guler, who has been linked with Arsenal over the past month ahead of a potential summer transfer, is also ‘dissatisfied’ with his situation at Real Madrid, with a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes claiming he has issued an ‘ultimatum’ to the club.
The report explains:
‘Despite his recent improvement under Álvaro Arbeloa, Arda Güler is dissatisfied with his secondary role and the internal dynamics within the dressing room. ‘The Ottoman jewel has made it clear that, without a real leading role and clear leadership on the bench, his time in the Spanish capital will end this summer.’
