Real Madrid to activate transfer target’s €50 million release clause with sale announcement ‘being prepared’ | OneFootball

La Liga giants Real Madrid are on the verge of securing another high-profile signing with a view to next season.

That’s according to Spanish journalist Eduardo Burgos of Diario AS, who points towards Álvaro Carreras as the player on the verge of sealing a Blancos switch.

The name of Benfica standout Carreras has of course proven an altogether prominent one in Spain’s capital over the last couple of weeks.

This comes following widespread confirmation that the 22-year-old has been identified as the first-choice option to reinforce the left-back ranks in Real Madrid’s squad.

The incoming Xabi Alonso is understood to be a keen admirer of Carreras’ talents, eager to work with his compatriot next season.

And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then Alonso looks set to land his man any day now.

As per a report from Eduardo Burgos:

‘Benfica are preparing to announce the sale of Álvaro Carreras. Real Madrid will make his termination clause effective (€50M).’
