Real Madrid are preparing to make a major decision on the future of Nico Paz, with a key meeting scheduled for next week that could determine whether the Argentine midfielder returns to the Santiago Bernabeu, remains at Como, or secures a permanent move elsewhere.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Los Blancos will hold talks with Como in the coming days to discuss the next steps for one of the club’s most promising academy graduates.
It must be remembered that the entire situation has become increasingly complex following Nico Paz’s outstanding season in Serie A and the arrival of Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid.
While many expected the Spanish giants to activate their buyback clause this summer, recent developments suggest a different outcome could be on the horizon.
As part of the original agreement with Como, Real Madrid retained significant control over the player’s future, including a buyback option worth around €9 million.

That clause has long been viewed as a safety net that would allow the club to bring him back should his development continue on an upward trajectory.
However, the landscape has shifted considerably in recent months, and the player is not entirely convinced that returning to Real Madrid this summer would be the best move for his career.
The midfielder is aware of the fierce competition that exists in Los Blancos’ midfield and believes that securing regular minutes under Mourinho would be a difficult task.
As a result, staying at Como for another season has emerged as an attractive option from the player’s perspective.
And it is for this reason that Real Madrid and Como will meet to review the situation and potentially restructure aspects of their agreement.

At this stage, the most likely scenario does not appear to involve Nico Paz playing for either Real Madrid or Como next season.
Instead, reports suggest that Real Madrid are increasingly open to capitalising on the midfielder’s rising value by facilitating a permanent transfer.
Having the option to bring him back for a relatively modest fee and potentially sell him for a significantly higher amount gives the club a unique opportunity to generate a substantial profit.
In fact, as reported before, this is exactly what Real Madrid tend to do. They want to exercise their buyback option before selling him to the Premier League at a substantial profit.
